Cadmium oxide 99.5% min. CdO, CAS No.: 1306-19-0 is a brownish-brown, non-melting crystalline powder, insoluble in water, readily soluble in mineral acids. In the air it gradually turns pale, absorbing carbon dioxide and passing into carbonic cadmium.
Cadmium oxide is used in electroplating; as a component of alkaline nickel-cadmium batteries; as a raw material for the production of other cadmium compounds; in organic synthesis to produce heat stabilizers.
